Her Name Was Lola...

Actually, it wasn't.

And she never was a "showgirl" with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to "there," as Barry Manilow suggested. But our efficient, friendly server did have a tattoo of Anubis on her arm, and any millennial who even knows who Anubis is gets extra credit in my book.

And she does work over at Koko Cabana in Oak Island, a beachfront place that has good beer, good food and good service--if you can get a seat.

My friends over at Life in Brunswick County have just published my story about my visit to Koko Cabana on April's first "perfect" beach day. You can read it here.

My guess is this place will be a favorite on every "perfect" beach day from now through Labor Day--and beyond.

Cheers!
