The Dilemma of 112 Beers on your iPad

Finding a beer you like at Duckworth's in Huntersville is at once easy--and difficult. Easy, because they're all listed, with complete descriptions, on the iPad you'll get at your table. But difficult, because so many of the choices are so good, you'll likely have trouble deciding which you want to consume at one sitting.

The iPad even allows you to select possibilities as favorites, which then light up in blue for later reference. Wine drinkers get the same treatment. And that's not even counting the number of bottled offerings Manager Kevin Kluesner has stored in his "Beer Room."

I actually visited the first Duckworth's in Mooresville years ago, and though that beer menu was quite varied, it had nowhere near this many excellent choices. From saisons to kolsch to IPA to tripels to stouts, there are just so many good beers available--and so little room in the body, especially if you're a smart, responsible beer drinker. You can peruse that list here.

Of course, the consumption of food ameliorates that somewhat, and Duckworth's offers a diverse menu. The onion rings were perfectly done, and the Fajita Chicken was outstanding.

Still, if you want to remain standing (or outstanding), you might need to schedule a few return trips to appreciate the full effect of what that iPad offers you. I'm guessing, but I suspect there's a way to clear your choices from the menu so the next customer doesn't have to sample what you've chosen as favorites.

Mine were Dreamchaser "Hop Files" #2 IPA, Firestone Walker Santa Lucia, Wicked Weed's Pernicious IPA and a kick-ass stout by Ommegang called Game of Thrones--The King in the North.

I'll have to return to explore further, of course. But such is the life of The PubScout, who remains unfailingly dedicated to the thankless task of finding great beers and great beer bars--like Duckworth's in Huntersville-- to recommend.

Cheers!
