Yardley Inn Still A Great Destination

The Yardley Inn in Yardley, PA has been reviewed in this space before. So when my Biker Buds and I hit that sleepy little burg on a gorgeous Sunday after nearly 100 miles on two wheels, I knew exactly what to expect--a cool, dark, little historic bar with an exceptional beer list and friendly staff.

And it had a bathroom.

Admittedly, the entrance of a group of rough-looking bikers, might cause a head or two to turn, but we're not Hell's Angels guys. Maybe Heck's Angels, because we're not that bad. We even use silverware and, sometimes, napkins.

Of course, not everyone judges books by their covers, and we were appreciative when lovely Noelle (a Lisa Kudrow clone) left her family's table and offered to take our picture (above). It just confirmed that "niceness" is contagious, and that's Noelle's son Gavin and veteran husband Kieran have a good mom and wife, respectively.

But we were there to slake our thirsts and fill our bellies, and the Yardley Inn is well equipped for both tasks. As mentioned in the earlier post link, this place has a phenomenal beer list, and my delicious brunch of Bacon and Egg Fried Rice with Sriracha Hollandaise Sauce proved they had the food thing down pat.

Speaking of good eggs, our waitress, Sandra was one indeed. Friendly, helpful and possessed of a self-deprecating humor that was infectious, she helped to make the stop a perfect one, even though she complained that she didn't look her best, due to a previous night of debauchery.

Beer-wise, we were a tad disappointed that she was out of the Jack's Abbey we ordered, but we ordered around that with some Innis and Gunns, some porters, a Finest Kind IPA, a Washington's Tavern Ale and a Dirty Bastard or two.

Fully sated with victual and libation (though not too much of the latter), we bid our goodbyes and headed out to hit the road for the second half of the ride up PA's Rt. 32 and 611, which would take us up to Bowman's North in Riegelsville. One feature of that pub drew us in. It had a bathroom.

And there two things geezers never do, according to Lou Caporaso. One is to never pass up a bathroom.

You can fill in the second one if you know it.

Cheers!
