NEPHCURE's The One

After compiling my first-ever book, (A Beer Brigand in Bruges and Brussels) currently available to those with Mac devices on iBook, I decided to send half of whatever money it makes to a site that helps fight kidney disease.

That site is NEPHCURE, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome.

My oldest son was diagnosed with FSGS in 2014, and he had no symptoms until he went to an urgent care center one night with swollen ankles. After tests, they told him he was in ESRF--End Stage Renal Failure. After having to go on dialysis, after coming close to getting a transplant from a dear friend of mine (only to have complications abort the surgery), he finally found his donor.

And he married her.

But this is not about his journey, because both donor and recipient are happy and doing well. There are many who suffer from FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome who are not doing well, and NEPHCURE's mission is to help them.

Hence, it is my intention to assist NEPHCURE in its mission.
