Beer and Spirits Doing Good Things
Although there is no proof anywhere that Founding Father Ben Franklin ever made this well-known comment, it rings so true that we feel he should have said it even if he didn't. Because beer certainly can make us happy, in more ways than one.
If you're a faithful reader of this blog, you already know of the many health benefits of beer, but it's always a pleasure to publicize when beer actually is the catalyst for social good as well.
Check out this upcoming effort by New Brunswick's fabulous Heldrich Hotel:
"The Heldrich Hotel, located in the heart of downtown New Brunswick across from Monument Square, will host a Craft Beer & Spirits Festival on Saturday, January 28, 2017, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. The Festival will be held in The Heldrich’s ballroom. The Justin Jones Trio will perform live in the Ballroom throughout the Festival. Afterwards, the Joe Magnarelli Trio will perform in Christopher’s Bar at The Heldrich from 7:00pm – 10:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend and proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties. Tickets are $40 per person if purchased in advance and $45 per person if purchased at the door the day of Festival.
"We are thrilled to be able to assist the Big Brothers and Big Sister organization, and support the important work they do every day in our city and within our region," said Stacy Thaler Martin, general manager for The Heldrich. "We're also pleased to highlight some of the region's best craft beer and spirit providers.”
Present at the festival will be over 25 representatives from spirits and craft breweries in the Tri-State region, including craft beers from brewers such as Eight & Sand Beer, Lagunitas, or Harvest Moon; ciders such as Virtue Cider; and spirits such as Wyoming Whisky.
For more information call 732-214-2206, or visit www.theheldrich.com and click-on the Craft Beer Festival Tab to purchase tickets online.
The Heldrich is a member of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, which is engaged in a nationwide initiative in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapters throughout the country."
The PubScout will be in attendance at this wonderful event, and I encourage you to meet me there to hoist a few. My research indicates there will be many fine beer offerings on hand beyond the ones noted above.
I know most Saturday nights are your reward for making it through another week. But there's nothing wrong with dedicating one to others who are helping kids make it through their entire lives.
Because God loves us and wants us to be happy. Ben Franklin said so. Cheers!
