Bad News, Good News
First, the bad news. When a restaurant with a fine appreciation of food and beer hosts its first ever beer dinner, and said beer dinner is wildly successful, it's natural for guys like me to look forward to another. Sadly, that will not happen, because that restaurant is no more.
Now the good news. While the restaurant may no longer exist, the building that housed it--and which has hosted hungry, thirsty travelers for two hundred forty years--does exist. The restaurant, formerly the Glen Gardner Inn, has been re-named. It's now Humphrey's Tavern, and Humphrey's is not only hosting another beer dinner under its new name, it's doing it with none other than the fabulous beers from Neshaminy Creek.
That tells me two things. One, Owner Michael Keller and Mgr. Dan Weiss know a winning combination when they see it; and, two, the feedback they got from their first-ever beer dinner was positive enough that they are now willing to step up their game and go full bore into beer dinners.
Chef Larry Cera's food at the first was exceptional, as were the beers with which it was paired. Expect the same from this one, especially if you're a fan of "earth-to-fork" dining. And Neshaminy Creek has built a solid reputation for some great, great beers.
It should be a very interesting evening, set, as it will be, in the newly renovated, cozy tavern that beckons with its warm, welcoming decor. On my last visit, the finishing touches were being applied, and now it's ready.
Even Glen Gardner's Mayor and a lovely council candidate were at the last one, and are ready for this one.
The question is--are you? The dinner is set for October 26 at 7PM. Tickets for the full food and beer pairing are just $60, and you can get them here.
The PubScout wouldn't miss this one for anything. Neither should you.
Cheers!
