A PAP for A Pub-Lover's Pub in Pennsy

The Keystone State certainly does not suffer from a dearth of good pubs. Larry Porter knows this and strives to make his a welcoming place. Actually, he does likewise at his other place a few blocks away called Black and Blue, but that fine establishment has a vastly different vibe-- I call it "Poe-esque."

At Black and Blue, you get the feeling that you're sitting in Edgar Allan Poe's parlor, and that he might walk in at any second, so order another absinthe just to be prepared. But at Porters', anyone might walk in--except Jon Taffer. Because Porters' runs like a well-oiled machine.

With its relatively small bar and hundreds of mugs suspended from the ceiling, Porters' immediately invites the visitor to a seat. The beer list is impressive, though not surprising, considering the peripatetic nature of its world-wandering owner. The food is excellent, especially the Apple Turkey Cheddar Melt Sandwich (hint: The Pasta Salad side in place of French Fries is a winner!) , and the friendliness of the servers combine to make this pub the first Pennsy Pub to wear the coveted PAP Seal of Approval.

Add Beth Brader's artwork to the walls of the homey interior, and book some nifty musical acts on a regular basis, and you have a winning pub recipe.

If you haven't already visited Easton's iconic treasure, you should, because it's a pub lover's pub.

And because it now bears the coveted PAP Seal of Approval.

Cheers!
